DECEMBER 2024

In December 2021, Goa Sudharop launched the retail store Posro in Margao aimed at providing Goans a venue to showcase their many talents and generate an income by selling their homemade goods. In 2024, Posro’s reach was expanded to help many struggling local Goans, most of whom are unemployed, widows or sole income earners.

Pop-ups, a popular trend in Goa, offers a fair-like experience – with music, arts and crafts, and local vendors selling their products. In 2024, Goa Sudharop organized several pop-ups in Margao and Panjim, complete with local dancers and musicians, hired to attract a crowd of customers, enabling our vendors to often completely sell out their tables of Goan delicacies!

Goa Sudharop has pivoted from addressing the urgent needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic to supporting the ongoing health needs of rural Goans.

The KidneyFINE project launched in September 2024 addresses the chronic kidney disease crisis. It screens for and detects early signs of kidney dysfunction, providing insight on intervention and treatment. In October, the first mobile KidneyFINE camp was held in a remote village in South Goa. The entire village received free screenings and were counseled on nutrition and healthy living. Goa Sudharop is on track to meet its goal of 2,400 patients screened, advised, and assisted.

We continue to partner with local volunteer doctors to hold free eye camps in remote areas of Goa. A recent eye camp benefited disadvantaged residents from Nessai and Courtorim, and included eye exams, providing spectacles where needed, and follow-ups for eye surgery – all free of charge.

As 2024 comes to an end, Goa Sudharop looks forward to celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2025!
